Sep 28, 2011 – Gerard Warren, who played in 16 games for the New England Patriots last season, has been re-signed by the franchise due to the uncertainty of defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth’s health. Warren was brought back by the Patriots on a training camp contract, but was cut by the team prior to the start of the regular season. However, with Haynesworth missing last Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills with a back injury and his status unknown for this Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders, the team brought him back to be safe. In his 10 year career, Warren has 244 tackles (76 assists on tackles), 35.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four fumbles recovered in 151 games with four teams. Warren began his career in Cleveland, where he racked up 116 tackles, 16.5 sacks and all four fumble recoveries in 60 games in four seasons. After his stint in Cleveland, Warren joined the Oakland Raiders for three seasons, where he had 76 tackles and three pass deflections in 44 games over three seasons. Warren then played two years with the Denver Broncos, registering 36 tackles in 31 games. In 2010, Warren’s only full year with the Patriots, he had 16 tackles (10 assists) and 3.5 sacks in 16 games (10 starts).
